NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Arizona Coyotes

March 9, 2023; Montreal, Quebec, CAN; Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard (58) chases down New York Rangers right wing Vladimir Tarasenko (91) in overtime at the Bell Centre. Mandatory credit: David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports

Vladimir Tarasenko is under control and can be solved

Pierre LeBrun: Vladimir Tarasenko has changed his agent for the second time in the last seven months. He is currently with Newport Sports.

Tarasenko has a full no-trade clause. It can be sold before the deadline.

The Montreal Canadiens could get a nice return for David Savard

Marco D'Amico: If the Montreal Canadiens decide to make defenseman David Savard available, they want a first-round plus pick for him.

“Right-handed, eager defensive style, his cover shot, Stanley Cup experience and improved offense in the MTL make him highly sought after.”

The Arizona Coyotes spoke with the state this week, but there wasn't an upgrade like some thought

Sportsnet: Elliott Friedman headlines Saturday's Arizona Coyotes vs. Utah.

Ron MacLean: “So you mentioned Ryan Smith, everything he said was expansion related. He builds it like this, it sounds like Gary Bettman's ears. But what do you hear from the commissioner or about Arizona because it's got to be a domino to fall.”

Friedman: “There's been a lot of buzz about the Coyotes this week, no question about it. A few of us thought we might get an announcement this weekend about their next potential building or whatever the future of the team might be, and I was one of them.

I don't think it will happen now. I think it may be a while before we get any comment from the group that discussed the potential for a new building with the state and region this week. I mean, we've been through this a lot. We've heard it all before. I see no real need to sue him again.

I think for most of us it will only tell us when we know the final result, but I don't think we will have any clarity for the next 24-48 hours or so we think.

Now owner Alex Morello announced this week that he will be speaking to staff next week. So I hope it gives them some clarity. But I don't think we should expect any more clarity in the short term like what we expected or expected this weekend, Ron.
