Krug had 5 assists as the Blues cruised past the Canadiens

Krug's five assists and points were the most in a single game by a defenseman in Blues history.

“They gave us (Robert Thomas) and Tory a lot of space to take the middle and try to get some shots,” Blues forward Jordan Kirou said. “We shot the puck, we got good lanes, so we had good rebounds.”

Thomas had a goal and three assists, Kirou had two goals and Jordan Binnington made 30 saves for St. Louis (28-21-2), which has won seven of its last eight games.

“I think we're coming together as a team on the rink,” Kyrou said. “We're really playing for each other and we all have a little bit of confidence right now, and that definitely helps.”

The Blues are coming off a 3-1 win at the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday and have outscored their opponents 10-3 in the first two games of a three-game road trip that ends at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

“We're playing the right way and everybody's coming into the game,” Thomas said. “It doesn't matter the night, every night someone seems to step up, and that's what you need to get into tough games.”
