Event Details:

Date: Friday, February 23, 2024, 7:30 p.m

Location: Roy Thomson Hall

What makes it so special?

Experience the magic of Stravinsky's ballets—The Fairy's Kiss and Pulcinella—in a concert that weaves a tapestry of musical innovation and timeless storytelling. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's Frozen, The Fairy's Kiss is Stravinsky's tribute to Tchaikovsky, blending the composer's early works into a beautiful romantic interpretation. Pulcinella, a symbol of Stravinsky's neoclassical period, reinvented baroque melodies with dynamic rhythms and harmonies, drawing on the 17th-century Italian commedia dell'arte.

This evening is a celebration of Stravinsky's legacy and a journey through the musical history of Kelly-Marie Murphy's “Fun, Genius” and “Searching for Petula Clark”—a unique blend of classical orchestration with elements of rock and pop.

  • Gustavo Gimeno, conductor
  • Isabelle Leonard, mezzo-soprano
