Commercial building fires, empty homes mean busy morning for Winnipeg firefighters – Winnipeg

It's been a busy Monday morning for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

Firefighters were dispatched to a blaze at a commercial building on Keewatin Street, causing traffic delays and the closure of Keewatin in both directions between Inkster Boulevard and Church Avenue.

Firefighters were also dealing with a separate fire involving vacant homes in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue Monday, which led to the temporary closure of Elgin between Isabel and Ellen streets.

In both cases, firefighters expect crews to be on the scene in the morning, with road closures remaining in place during morning traffic. Drivers are urged to take an alternate route and avoid any areas.
