Calgary Weather: Temperatures in Calgary will be below freezing after Monday through Saturday

Daytime highs in Calgary were warmer than average over the weekend, ranging from 4 to 6 degrees.

Monday's high will be above seasonal averages, but this 2 C high will also be the start of a cooler trend.

A short-wave trough moving from BC into Alberta is expected to bring light and scattered snow to southern parts of both provinces during the afternoon on Monday.

Behind this. A ridge of high pressure from the Pacific will cause instability on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, with snow likely overnight.

Areas west of the QEII/Highway 2 corridor will see more snow compared to areas east of the highway.

Steady northerly winds will keep daytime highs and nighttime lows below the seasonal ranges of 0 C to -12 C for at least three days.

Snow is unlikely in Calgary after Tuesday and sunshine will help melt the snow that has fallen in recent weeks, but with daytime highs still below freezing, the thaw portion of the freeze-thaw cycle won't be as dramatic as it often is for the region.

So, be careful when driving in areas that are still covered in ice, such as parking lots, sidewalks and driveways, as the ice may remain solid until the end of the week.
