A suspect who jumped into a car to save a woman's pets has been arrested

Los Angeles police arrested a suspected thief after a woman was seen with her dog clinging to the hood of a speeding car.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the woman was eating with her dog on the patio of Whole Foods on Jan. 18 when the female suspect grabbed the victim's pet and fled.

Police said the dog's owner ran after the thief, who got into a white four-door sedan driven by another suspect.

“The victim attempted to stop the suspects by jumping on the hood of the vehicle as it drove south from the scene,” police said in a statement. “The victim later fell out of the vehicle and the suspects fled with his dog.”

Emergency workers treated the victim with minor injuries.

The dramatic incident, which was filmed in the middle of the day, went viral on social media.

In the video, a white four-door sedan can be seen speeding down the street with a woman clinging to the hood.

Sadie Slater, 21, was arrested in Inglewood on Feb. 3 and charged with robbery, police said.

“The US Marshals Service worked through the night to locate and arrest the suspect wanted for this crime,” the LAPD's Task Force and Narcotics Division X said earlier on Twitter.

Unfortunately, the one-year-old French bulldog Onyx is still missing.

“I love this dog,” owner Ali Zacharias told KTLA. “I miss this dog. I can't wait to see his face. I can't wait to see it. When he sees me, he turns around. He will be so happy. I can't wait to see it.”

Zachariah said he was glad to be arrested, but he couldn't wait to be reunited with Onyx.

“We are screaming with joy, but at the same time we are waiting for the next news that Onyx is safe and in custody,” Zacharias said.
