A large fire blocked part of Keewatin Street

Part of Keewatin Street was closed Monday morning as Winnipeg firefighters battled a large blaze.

Keewatin Street is currently closed in both directions between Inkster Boulevard and Church Avenue.

“Winnipeg Fire Paramedics are responding to a fire at a commercial building at 1030 Keewatin St. “Crews are using aerial ladders to apply water to the fire,” said the city's 'X' message.

The city said the closure is expected to remain in place throughout the morning rush hour.

There are no reports of injuries yet.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
