A man is in life-threatening condition after a fire broke out at a high-rise in downtown Toronto Saturday night.

Police say the fire, in the area of ​​Sherborne Street and Shuter Street, was fully contained when the 12th-floor Toronto fire department arrived at 5:41 p.m., and one person was sheltering on a balcony.

The police say that the man was taken to the hospital, where his life is in danger.

The fire has since been extinguished.

Police say they expect delays in the area.
