Toronto Maple Leafs Prospects Update

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a lot of young prospects who will have a good season this year. As the NHL trade deadline approaches, some of these prospects could be trade fodder, so I thought I'd take a look at how their seasons are going.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are more interested in trading their 2024 first-round pick than top prospects like Matthew Knees, Easton Cowan or Frazier Minten, according to Elliot Friedman in Sportsnet's 32 Thoughts segment.

Regardless, the Leafs are in a profitable position right now and anyone outside of the top four is potential trade bait.

In this article, I'll take a look at how the 2023-24 season will play out for five Leafs prospects. I focus on Easton Cowan, Fraser Minten, Ryan Tverberg, Topi Niemala and Brandon Lisowski.

Easton Cowan – C/RW

Easton Cowan is the first round pick of the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He is 18 years old, 5'11″ and 185 pounds. Played 37 games this season.

Cowan surpassed all of his stats from last season. He has 23 goals and 43 assists for 66 points. Last season he scored 20 goals and 53 points with 33 assists in 68 games.

Cowan is on pace to finish this season with 98 points with 34 goals and 64 assists in 55 games. This is Cowan's third season in the OHL with the London Knights.

He will be eligible to play there next season, but could jump to the AHL and develop with the Toronto Marlies. (All stats from eliteprospects.com)
