Three Winnipeg police officers were shot during the standoff

Three Winnipeg police officers were shot Saturday morning during a standoff in the 200 block of College Avenue.

Around 3:10 a.m., police were called to an apartment building in the area where they were told multiple occupants were found, including a firearm, inside a suite.

Officers rescued several people, including a woman who had been arrested earlier. Additional people, still believed to be armed, refused to leave the building.

During the confrontation, the suspect fired at the police and hit three officers. The injuries sustained by the officers were not life-threatening.

Eventually, two 40-year-old men were arrested.

Winnipeg police are continuing to investigate. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
