The Calgary Roughnecks beat the Toronto Rock 11-10

Hamilton, ON – The Calgary Roughnecks snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Toronto Rock on Saturday night at the FirstOntario Center in Hamilton.

Jesse King opened the scoring for Calgary, and the Roughnecks closed out the first quarter with a 4-2 lead thanks to goals from Harrison Matsuoka, Tyler Pace and Robert Hudson, who made his debut for the Roughnecks tonight. The Rock fought back in the second game to add three to their tally, and the Roughnecks held on to a one-goal lead thanks to goals from Hayden Dixon and Shane Simpson.


Hudson scored his second of the game to start the second half, starting a four-goal stretch for Calgary. Matsuoka added his second goal of the night off a pass from Del Bianco. Jesse King added his second goal, Josh Carrier added his fourth, and Toronto remained scoreless. Despite the Rock's push in the fourth quarter, it was five goals to the home side, with Thomas Hoggart finding the back of the net to leave the final score at 11-10.

Robert Hudson's two goals tonight were his first in his NLL career as well as his first as a rookie. He finished the night with two points from Harrison Matsuoka (2g) and Tanner Cook (2a). Jesse King once again led Calgary's offense with 5 points (2g, 3a), and Tyler Pace finished his night with 3 points (1g, 2a).

Zach Carrier was strong in transition, posting 14 turnovers, 2 steals and an assist. Justin Inacio was 7-23 in the contest and Christian Del Bianco made 44 saves in the Calgary net as the Rock beat the Roughnecks 54-49.

The Riggers now return home to WestJet Field on Sunday, Feb. 18 to face the Halifax Thunderbirds in the East Coast Bowl.
