Preview | The Rapids opened their second preseason game against Montreal

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The Rapids will face CF Montréal in a closed-door contest on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MT, marking their first preseason matchup in Orlando, Fla., before returning to Colorado.

Montreal and the Rapids have met eight times in the regular season since Montreal joined the league in 2012. Colorado has a record of 5-2-1 (WLD). The first meeting between these sides took place on May 26, 2012 at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park, with the Rapids winning 3-2. The most recent meeting was on August 3, 2019, where the Rapids won 6-3 thanks to a hat trick from Kay Kamara.

In 2023, Montreal finished the season in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. During the offseason, Montreal appointed Laurent Courtois as their new head coach and made significant signings and acquisitions, including forwards Joseph Martinez and Matias Coccaro, defenders Raheem Edwards and Ruan, as well as midfielder Dominic Jankov.

This pre-season match will preserve the important ties between the two sides. Rapids midfielder Djordje Mihajlovic scored 13 goals and had 22 assists in 61 games during his time in Montreal during the 2021-22 season. His 16 assists in 2021 set a new record for the Montreal club and contributed to the victory in the Canadian championship that year. In addition, Rapids midfielder Kevin Cabral and Montreal defender Raheem Edwards shared the field in 2022 and played 33 games against each other as members of the LA Galaxy.

All contests in Orlando will be closed contests, but fans of the Burgundy and Blue can follow all the action on the Rapids' official social media accounts and for postgame coverage at coloradorapids.com.
