The closest they came was Adam Pelech hitting the crossbar midway through the period.

Varlamov has not featured since January 27th and the lack of game action may have played a role in the first goal being conceded to Veager. It was a shaky shot that fooled Varlamov and put the Islanders in an early hole.

According to NHL PR, Noah Dobson made his 47th pass of the season Brock Nelson's goal – most goals scored by a defender Vladimir Malakhov In 1993-94 there were 47. Assis tied with Dobson (for now). Cale Makar and Connor McDavid in the category.

Varlamov played his 600th career game, which is impressive for a goalkeeper. “This is a very good score for a goalkeeper,” Varlamov said after the game. “I'm happy to get the numbers, but I'm disappointed that we lost today. The most important thing for me was to win today.”
