New program helps Calgary seniors pay for pets GeoTv News

Keeping seniors and their pets together is the focus of a new program at the Calgary Humane Society.

The Permanent Companion Program helps seniors pay for spay, neuter, dental procedures, vaccinations and emergency care.

It also helps with food, bedding, litter and supplies.

In addition, adoption fees are available for owners over 65 years of age.

The program fights loneliness in the elderly and saves animals from shelters.

The program also helps seniors with end-of-life pet support, such as euthanasia and cremation.
