Gaudin's historic night propels the Seagulls to a 7-4 victory in Calgary

The San Diego Seagulls swept the ice for the second night in a row with a 7-4 victory over the Calgary Wranglers on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Glenn Gaudin He tied Sam Carrick (Nov 25, 2018 @ STK; 3-2 = 5) for the most points in a single game in Gulls AHL history with a career-high 1-4=5. He also tied Calle Kossila (January 3, 2018 @ TEX) and Nicolas Brouillard (December 14, 2022 vs. ABB) for the most assists in a single game in franchise history.

The Wranglers wasted no time as Calgary's Ilya Nikolaev jumped on the Gulls early with a goal 4:07 into the opening frame.

soon, Nikita Nesterenko Responded on the power play, scoring his eleventh goal of the season to tie the score at 8:51.

The Wranglers regained their lead less than a minute later when Jonathan Aspirot added a second goal.

The Seagulls entered the middle frame determined to turn the tables Andrew Agosino puck early for his 11th goal of the season, his sixth on the power play.

Jude Caulfield That fueled the energy and scored his ninth goal of the season at 3:03 to give San Diego its first lead of the night.

At 5:32, the Seagulls were once again on the power play Olen Zellweger made a high ball to extend the team's lead to two. Zellweger also enlisted two assistants.

Gawdin recorded three assists (0-3 = 3) in the second period, tied for the most assists in a single period in Gulls AHL history (four times, last: G. Fiore, January 17, 2018 @ TUC, 3rd). He is 2-7=9 in his last three games.

It would be interesting to get the final frame going, as Agosino scored just seconds into another power play to extend the Seagulls' lead to three. Agosino scored in a season-high nine contests (4-6=10).

Halfway through the third, emotions ran high Travis Howe and Alex Gallant dropped his gloves and went to center ice, and Howe left Gallant after a couple of right hooks. The two tried to throw again as they left the penalty area, but the officials sent the two to their respective locker rooms before the second round.

Chase De Leo continued his hot streak on Friday as he netted his tenth goal of the season at 8:32. The goal marked his 64th as a Gull, tying Corey Tropp for second on the Gulls franchise leaderboard.

At 9:49, Matthew Wedman answered as he found the back of the net for the first time since opening for the Wranglers.

Matt Coronato grabbed the momentum and added another goal for Calgary at 14:30.

Gawdin iced it with an empty netter at 16:50, restoring San Diego's three-goal lead, scoring his 14th goal of the season and a career-high fifth point of the night.

The Seagulls scored five power-play goals on the night, setting a new franchise record for most PPG in a game. They also killed eight of nine penalties, setting a franchise record for most penalties killed in a game. San Diego went 47-of-47 (spanning 11 games) before allowing a PPG and has not allowed a PPG in 10 consecutive games, both team records.

Pavel Regenda recorded two assists, his second career multi-assist game.

Drew Helleson, Josh Lopina, Trevor Carrickand De Leo each had one assist.

The Seagulls are preparing to fly back to Pechanga Arena San Diego where they will take on the San Jose Barracuda for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, February 14th (7:00 p.m. PST).
