Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

WINNIPEG – Connor Hellebuyck led the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

Hellebuyck stopped 35 of 36 shots as Winnipeg snapped a five-game losing streak.

Nino Niederreiter and Mark Scheifele scored for Winnipeg (31-14-5).

Brian Rast was the only Penguin to defeat Hellebuyck.

Tristan Jarry made 29 saves for Pittsburgh 23-19-7.

The Jets lost 3-0 to Jarry and the Pens on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Jarry scored twice on Nikolai Ehlers in the third period.

In the last minute of the second, Hellebaek saved a 2-1 game by hitting Lars Eller with a rock.

The Penguins led 2-1 at the end of the second period. Erik Karlsson's cross was headed past Hellebak by Rast. Ryan Graves also helped out.

Winnipeg made it 2-0 when Niederreiter deflected a shot past Jarry from the side of the net. Nate Schmidt's shot missed the net and hit the backboard. Logan Stanley also assisted.

The Jets drew first blood midway through the first period. Scheifele beat Jarry on a 2-on-1 pass from Nikolaj Ehlers. Ehlers stole the puck and then drove down the ice with Scheifele.

In the final minute of the first period, Hellebaek made a good save against Jansen Harkins on a 2-on-1. In the first period, Hellebaek also robbed Colin White after a gift in front of Stanley's own net.

NOTES

Winnipeg All-Star winger Kyle Connor played his 500th game. … Pittsburgh superstar Sidney Crosby's nine-game hitting streak (six goals, 11 points) was snapped. … Jets quarterback Brenden Dillon was suspended for three games Tuesday for headbutting Pittsburgh forward Noel Acciari when the two teams played each other. Acciari suffered a concussion as a result of the impact.
