Calgary Flames beat New York Islanders 5-2 GeoTv News

Mackenzie Vigar scored three goals as the Calgary Flames beat the New York Islanders 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn.

Jacob Markstrom slammed the door shut in the first two periods, giving the Flames a 3-0 lead on a pair of goals by Vigar and a goal by Jonathan Huberdeau.

After Brock Nelson cut the deficit to 3-1, Islanders coach Semen Varlamov pulled goalie with four minutes left and the Islanders were on a power play thanks to too many free throws for the Flames.

But the move backfired as Blake Coleman scored to make it 4-1.

After Jean-Gabriel Pageau cut the deficit to 4-2, Vigar claimed his third goal with less than a minute to play.

It was Vigar's first career hat-trick.

The Isles beat the Flames 34-22.

This is the fourth win in a row for the pilots.

The next game is Monday night at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers.
