A Delta flight made an emergency landing at the Montreal airport after GeoTv News detected smoke

A plane from New York made an emergency landing at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport on Friday after officials said smoke was coming from the plane.

Airport spokeswoman Anne-Sophie Hamel said the Delta captain called for emergency services before the plane landed with 69 people on board. The twin aircraft were evacuated on the runway as a precaution, and there were no injuries.

In videos posted on social media, passengers can be seen walking down the runway surrounded by flashing fire engines.

“Airport operations are now back to normal,” Hamel said in an email.

The flight departed from LaGuardia Airport in New York at 15:25 and landed in Montreal at 17:40.

The airline said passengers were taken to the terminal by buses and the plane was taken to the gate for assessment.

“First responders have confirmed that the aircraft is OK,” Delta spokesman Anthony Black said in an email.

Now the cause of the accident is being determined.
