The video shows the relationship between the police and the driver who was speeding twice as fast

A young driver is charged with double the speed limit just 10 minutes after getting his G licence.

York Regional Police released video of the interaction on social media, saying the driver was going 131 kilometers per hour in a 50 km/h zone.

In the video, an officer can be seen pulling over a speeding car and telling the driver that he will lose his license and car.

The driver can be heard telling officers the car was his father's, before saying they thought it was going 90km/h.

“I got my G license,” they said. “I have a clean record.”

The officer replied, “Not today.”

“That's crazy speed, man,” they said. “You just passed school.”

The driver is then heard asking if he can go back to G2 and take another test.

Police charged him with driving 40 kilometers or more over the speed limit in a 80 km/h zone and speeding at 131 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The driver's license was revoked for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

In a social media post, York Police noted that 118 charges were laid for driving stops in York Region alone in January 2024.

“Unless your Taylor Swift is flying from Tokyo to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, we don't recommend traveling that fast,” police said.
