The Hockey Hall of Fame has historic PWHL artifacts to view

Several artifacts from the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) are now on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in honor of the league's inaugural season.

The Women's Hockey – A Celebration of Excellence exhibit features many historic items from this year's first PWHL game, when they hit the ice in front of sold-out crowds in Toronto and New York on New Year's Day. Mattamy Athletic Center in downtown Toronto.

The PWHL went 4-0 for New York, with goaltender Corinne Schroeder finishing the game with 29 saves.

The first puck, four New York goal pucks, Ella Shelton's hockey stick – which scored the game-winning goal in the first game – and Schroeder's goalie stick are among those currently on display.

Shelton's stick and puck from the first PWHL All-Star game on Feb. 1 were also donated to the exhibit and left by the player himself.

“It was great to come to the Hockey Hall of Fame and see the Women's Showcase. It was very emotional to see all the history behind the women's game,” Shelton said.

“I cannot thank all of these women enough for their dedication and hard work. Being a part of that history is something I will never forget.”
