Stay-at-home alert lifted in Carstairs area after 2 people arrested on suspicion of being armed – Calgary

A stay-at-home warning for people west of Carstairs was lifted on Friday morning, two hours after police searched for two armed suspects.

Didsbury RCMP said in a news release at 7:44 a.m. that they are tracking a man and woman who they believe are in possession of a firearm.

Police believe the man and woman were walking.

The city asked residents between Highways 302 and 580 and between 15th and 20th to take shelter and lock their doors. The area is located west of Carstairs, about half an hour north of Calgary.

At 9:38 a.m., RCMP lifted the alert and said two suspects were in custody.

“A more detailed media release will follow later in the day,” police said in a press release.

Police said they are not looking for any more suspects and are no longer a threat to the public.
