Smoke causes Delta flight to make emergency landing at Montreal airport: officials

MONTREAL – A Delta flight from New York had to make an emergency landing at Montreal's Trudeau Airport Friday afternoon.

Anne-Sophie Hamel, spokeswoman for the airport authority, said it was due to smoke on board and there were no injuries.

Hamel said airport officials were told it was not related to mechanical issues.

Anthony Black with Delta says the flight crew declared an emergency and landed the plane without incident.

Black says passengers were sent onto the tarmac as a precaution.

He says the cause is under investigation.
