Jagmeet Singh 'disgusted' by Liberals' lack of drug coverage plan threatens consequences

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says the Trudeau government is frustrated over pharma and says the Liberals will face consequences if the Liberals don't deliver a framework for pharma by March 1.

“Some of the implications are that the Liberals need our help to pass bills at home. If they violate the agreement, we will not provide that assistance,” Singh said.

The NDP and Liberals are locked in a deal to keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's minority government in power until 2025.

“Sometimes we would speed things up at home. But if they break their promises, we will not help in this way,” Singh said.

During a visit to Montreal on Friday, Singh says the federal government must provide a framework for the NDP to continue supporting the Liberals in key votes.

A day earlier, at a press conference outside Toronto, Trudeau said they were working hard to deliver a bill to regulate drug coverage.

“Liberals have a choice. They can choose people. They can choose to work for the people…or they can choose to back up the big pharma companies, the big insurance companies…and if they choose against the people, then we're going to make life difficult for them,” Singh said.
