Charges laid in death of infant due to malnutrition, Winnipeg police say – Winnipeg

A woman is in custody following a Winnipeg police investigation into the death of an infant late last year.

Winnipeg Police officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Atlantic Avenue on December 4, 2023 for a report of an unresponsive infant. A two-month-old baby died at the scene.

An investigation was launched, police said, and an autopsy later determined the cause of death was malnutrition.

Police said they arrested 27-year-old Alyssa Michelle Ross on Feb. 8, who remains in custody and has been charged with murder.
