Archdiocese of Toronto – Love is in the air: 12,000 years of marriage under one roof

As Valentine's Day approaches, more than 300 couples with 12,000 years of marriage will gather this Sunday at St. Michael's Cathedral in downtown Toronto to celebrate milestone anniversaries. The Mass of Marriage, presided over by the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, honors those celebrating 25 years.th40th50th and 60+ wedding anniversaries in 2024, a highlight of the Archdiocese of Toronto's annual Marriage Sunday celebrations. This year, two couples who got married in 1954 and will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this year will participate.

1,200 people, including family and friends of the celebrant couple, are expected to attend the event, organized by the archdiocese's Office of Discipleship Formation in collaboration with various local marriage enrichment movements. Couples renew their vows and a special blessing is given to the anniversaries.

Archbishop Leo sent a letter to all couples in the Archdiocese of Toronto: “I would like to extend my prayers and best wishes to all couples. This is a wonderful occasion to honor your devotion, commitment and public witness to the sacrament.
