A woman was left with life-changing injuries after a reported dog attack in Etobicoke

Toronto police are trying to identify the owners of two dogs after a series of animal attacks in Etobicoke earlier this week, including one that left a woman with life-changing injuries.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Martin Grove Road and John Garland Boulevard in Etobicoke on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. for an animal complaint.

It is said that a woman was waiting for a bus at a nearby bus stop when two off-leash dogs came to her and attacked her. According to the police, the woman tried to defend herself with her own shopping cart, after which the dogs dragged her to the ground and continued to attack her.

The woman managed to get into a passerby's car to stop the attack.

Police followed witness dogs and saw a couple attack a bicyclist, try to attack someone in their backyard, and attack a TTC Wheel-trans operator who closed the car's door in time.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious and life-changing injuries.

Police are trying to identify the two dogs and their owner and say there is a concern for public safety. Investigators released a photo (see above) and described the dogs as black and white with larger builds, possibly pit bull terriers or a similar breed.
