Toronto Weather: Temperatures soared to 13 degrees, breaking an 86-year-old record

Toronto could break an 86-year-old weather record today as temperatures soar into the double digits and beyond.

Friday's forecast calls for temperatures of up to 13 degrees in the city for at least a few hours before the weekend.

According to CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter, temperatures are expected to reach 10-11 degrees midday ahead of the record-breaking heat.

“We should peak around 13C between 3pm and 5pm, peak for two to three hours, then slowly climb to 10C between 8pm and 9pm,” Coulter said.

The last time the city had such warm weather at this time of the year was on February 9, 1938, when it reached 10.6 degrees.

Friday's relative warmth will mix with sun and clouds, threatening isolated shelters during the day.

Saturday will be cloudy with showers in the morning and afternoon and a high of 10 degrees, Coulter said. Temperatures will drop to 3C on Sunday, with isolated flurries possible early next week.
