The Flyers found their mojo back with a convincing home win over Winnipeg

Pilots may regain their composure.

A five-game losing streak before the break? Forget about it. The dreaded opening stretch against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night? A thing of the past.

They returned to those days in Thursday night's 4-1 win over Winnipeg, leaving coach John Tortorella with less than a happy postgame. But this team showed its identity in the first period at the Well Fargo Center to host the team.

Have the Orange and Black puck had some luck and help from the hockey gods? Certainly. A broken goal is here and never a bad thing. But they also did what they could and scored two goals.

The Flyers broke it open 3 minutes and 37 seconds into the game when they got out of the game. Ryan Poehling drove down the right sideline, took a pass from Tyson Foerster, and sent the puck to the 22-year-old winger, who shot into the back of the net.

After that came a succession of interrupted plays.

Travis Konecny, who dropped the gloves with Jets quarterback Neil Pionk earlier in the period, scored his 24th point of the season on a couple of good shots.

After a Joel Faraby faceoff in the offensive zone, Konecny threw a pass to Sean Walker in the right spot. His shot bounced off Cole Perfetti to the middle of the ice, where Morgan Frost knocked the puck away from rookie Jets forward Sean Monahan to Konecny. The All-Star team then put the puck past Pionk and goaltender Laurent Brossoy.

Frost then added a goal of his own 2:03 later — Konecny's second assist to complete Gordie Howe's hat trick — to make it 3-0. Outside the neutral zone, the Flyers entered after the Jets. Frost took a pass from Owen Tippett, but his shot went over the face of Nate Schmidt. (He was good.)

Tippett then had a shot on goal before Frost buried the rebound to end a 10-game goal drought.

Poehling closed the scoring for the Flyers with a shorthanded goal. On a faceoff in the Flyers' zone, Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey fouled out at the blue line, allowing Poehling to get the puck and go two-on-one with Garnet Hathaway.

Poehling fired a wicked forearm off Morrissey's leg as his friend made his way to the cage. It was the Flyers' first shortstop since Konecny scored a goal on Jan. 6 against the Calgary Flames.
