The Flyers are in a positive position as they try to end their losing streak

It's not something the Winnipeg Jets have learned much about this season – losing.

They are currently in the midst of a four-game winless streak – the longest since the 2023-24 season. The Jets also scored three goals and had two shutouts in those four games.

Their position in the standings also took a bit of a hit. At points, they sat near or atop the NHL leaderboard. But as of February 8, the team slipped to eighth place and eight points behind the top spot.

They have also seen a decline in their division, currently sitting third in the Central Division, three points behind the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars, both tied for first.

Despite the recent troubles, there seems to be no concern in the dressing room.

“I don't feel any disappointment yet,” Jets forward Morgan Barron said. “It's a bit of a slip and we want to get rid of it. But, you know; At the end of the day, I think the last four or five games we've played like…the right mindset. It's just a matter of time and we'll see a few pucks hit the net.”

Associate coach Scott Arniel could benefit the team from a little bump in the road in the long run this season.

“It's funny because we were in Boston a couple of weeks ago and I talked to their coaches and they lost three or four in a row and they said it was the best thing that ever happened to them because they were going so well. Therefore, we hope that the same will happen,” said Arniel.

“We know how to play, what our treatment is, our makeup is to be successful and it frustrates opponents by not giving them many opportunities.”

As the Jets try to right the ship, the Philadelphia Flyers will be on the docket as their next opponent.

The Phillies are coming off a 2-1 win in their last game against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, but they have lost five in a row before that.

This is the second meeting of the season between the Jets and Flyers, with Winnipeg falling 2-0 in mid-January.

The team understands that the Flyers play a similar style of game and it will be a tough contest.

“The fat goals that we've had in training camp, we've talked about different parts of the year, we've got to get back to getting some of those shots, those deflections, shots and shots, second pucks. So we can't. Obviously, you must be too far from the grid. When people look like the shot is going on net or play a bad angle, it has to be hit no matter what. We have to make sure we hit and get inside the ice. Arniel said.

“You get a really good effort from them every night. You know, they're really defensively structured,” Barron said. “They make it really hard to get online, and I think we all know that's not a game where we're going to be trading opportunities back and forth and freaking people rushing.”

The Jets will be without guard Brenden Dillon, who was suspended for three games Wednesday for a hit on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Noel Acciari.

In his absence, Logan Stanley will enter the lineup.

Laurent Brossoit will be in goal for Winnipeg. The game starts at 6:00 PM CT
