The Toronto Raptors will trade forward Dennis Schroeder and forward Ted Young to the Brooklyn Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie, the team announced Thursday.

Toronto then waived Dinwiddie after the deal. The guard is in the final year of a three-year, $54 million deal he signed in 2021. The Raptors will save $1.5 million in future bonuses with Dinwiddie's exit.

Dinwiddie's scoring has been down this season. He averaged 12.6 points per game on 39.1% shooting; both are his lowest totals since 2017-18.

While the Raptors are releasing Dinwiddie, they are promoting Bruce Brown. Brown, who the Raptors acquired from the Indiana Pacers in the Pascal Siakam deal, has a $23 million team option this summer.

Schroeder was in the midst of his first season in Toronto after arriving in free agency. He averaged 13.7 points and 6.1 assists on 44.2% shooting in 51 games, including 31 starts.

The German is in the second year of his 2024-25 contract for $13 million. Young's $8 million expiring contract was included in order to match salary.
