Montreal burned for the second time in a week – Montreal

Montreal police are on high alert after a second fire this week.

Montreal firefighters are working overtime to put out several fires that have started in the city as threats.

The Montreal police firefighting team investigated three fires in 90 minutes. This is the second explosion in the city this week.

Between 1:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. Thursday, two residences were targeted.

Three cars caught fire in front of a house in St. Laurent on Boulevard Alexis-Nichon. SPVM spokesman Rafael Bergeron said the fire was ruled suspicious, although no trace of an accelerant was found at the scene.

Shortly thereafter, a Molotov cocktail was thrown from a window on Graham Boulevard in Mount Royal. Residents were forced to leave their homes, but there were no injuries.

Police were also called to a reception hall on rue des Nations in the Saint-Laurent district around 3am. The building sustained minor damage after being targeted by an incendiary device.

This comes after several fires were reported in the Saint Laurent area on Tuesday.

The police will intensify their patrols

Police say the fires may be related, but it's too early to tell.

“At the moment, it needs to be determined. Several businesses have been targeted, including restaurants and now private residences. “Obviously the fire department is going to look into whether they're connected,” Bergeron said.

“It's hard to confirm at this point because we still have to investigate.”

Meanwhile, a fourth fire was reported just after 5 a.m. on Montreal's east side.

110 firefighters spent several hours extinguishing the inferno in the yard of the towing company on Marien Boulevard. Although initially not considered suspicious, the cause of the three-alarm fire is still under investigation
