Lucas Glover forced to withdraw from Phoenix Open after misreading text – Winnipeg Free Press

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – A misread text allowed Lucas Glover to play in the Phoenix Open.

Glover was forced to withdraw from Thursday's first round after missing playing time.

Glover told Golf Channel that he misread the text, which was scheduled for 8:26 a.m. local time. Glover said he was in his hotel room a minute before tee time when a Phoenix Open official called.

“I'm beating myself up, but I'm also laughing at myself,” she told the network.

First alternate Ryo Hisatsune replaced Glover in the field.

Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, tied for 29th at The Sentry to open the season and was tied for 58th at Pebble Beach last week after winning twice in 2023.
