It may be recalled that Havanke signed a four-year deal to play in the DEL with Adler Mannheim in Germany in May 2023, while he was still an RFA with Winnipeg. The prospect had his best season as a pro, but didn't make it to the NHL. The Jets would retain his rights for one more season before he became a UFA and could not sign anywhere.

About two months later, the Jets traded him to the Sharks for a 2019 2nd round pick Artemi Knyazev. A week later, Havanque signed a one-year deal with San Jose. He was 8G 19A with 27 points in 38 games for the Barracuda this season. He was on a high in his career as an assistant. As bad as San Jose was, they never let him into the game.

Kniazev did not work out in Winnipeg this season and he left for the KHL, but the Jets retained his rights.

For those of you who haven't followed his exploits with the Moose, the most famous Havanke in the NHL may be when Jacob Trouba used his stick to score a goal against the Sabers in January 2018. said after the game “We need to order more of these Havanke sticks.”
