Canadian women beat Hungary 67-55 in FIBA ​​Olympic qualifier – Winnipeg Free Press

SOPRON, Hungary – Kayla Alexander led the way with 15 points and 13 rebounds as Canada beat host Hungary 67-55 on Thursday to open the FIBA ​​Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Bridget Carlton added a game-high 18 points for the fifth-ranked Canadians. Natalie Achonwa and Shay Colley each added 10 points.

Dorka Juhasz led 19th-ranked Hungary with 13 points.

The competition is one of four Olympic qualifiers with 10 of the 12 spots for the 2024 Paris Games. USA and France are the only teams to qualify.

Spain and Japan are the two remaining nations in the four-team tournament, along with Canada and Hungary. The top three teams from the tournament will qualify for the Olympics.
