Calgary police say a knife was used in a robbery at Chinook Centre

Calgary police have laid charges in connection with an incident at the Chinook Center that saw thieves pull a knife on security guards.

Police were called to The Bay inside the shopping center at 5pm on Tuesday 23 January 2023.

An adult and a teenager allegedly stole two expensive winter coats from a store.

Police said when security came after them, the adult man threatened the officers with a knife before leaving.

“Store employees contacted police and the suspects were located a short distance away in possession of the stolen merchandise,” police said in a news release Thursday.

Police charged the 20-year-old with assault, carrying a concealed weapon and theft under $5,000.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with theft under $5,000.

Both are scheduled to appear in court in March. 5.
