An Air Canada flight was forced to return to Toronto after a failed landing in Newfoundland – Toronto

A flight from Toronto was forced to turn back hours after takeoff after “several” failed attempts to land in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Air Canada, which operates the flight, said on February 5 that headwinds prevented Flight 698 from landing in St. John's.

In a statement sent to Global News, they said the pilot made several attempts to abort the landing before stopping and returning to Toronto.

“Safety is, and always will be, our top priority, and that's something our customers completely agree with,” the spokesperson said.

Atlantic Canada experienced a historic winter blast earlier in the month. Air Canada said bad weather made it difficult to land at nearby airports, forcing the pilot to return to Toronto.
