The Toronto Argonauts have signed All-American wide receiver Coxie to a contract extension

TORONTO – All-American wide receiver Damonte Coxey signed a contract extension with the Toronto Argonauts Football Company on Wednesday.

Coxie, 27, became a free agent on Tuesday.

The six-foot-three, 200-pound Coxey had 39 catches for 787 yards with five touchdowns in 14 regular-season contests in 2023. His average of 20.2 yards per reception led the CFL.

Coxey had 15 receptions for 210 yards in seven regular-season games in his first year in Toronto in 2022. Coxey played collegiately at Memphis, where he recorded consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 2018-19, the second player in school history.

The Stampeders signed All-American defensive back Williams to an extension

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders re-signed All-American defensive back Kobe Williams on Wednesday.

The versatile Williams became eligible to become a free agent on Tuesday.

The five-foot-10, 180-pound Williams started all 18 regular-season games for Calgary last year (12 at halfback, five at halfback and one at cornerback). He had 45 tackles (four for loss), four special teams stops, one sack, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Williams will join the Stampeders in 2021 after spending time in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After starting one game with Calgary in 2021, he played in 11 games the following season.

In 30 career CFL games, Williams has 76 tackles (five for loss), four special teams tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Ticats re-sign Bennett, Ternovsky, add Milanovic-Litre

HAMILTON — The Tiger Cats re-signed defensive lineman Mason Bennett and receiver Tyler Ternowski and also signed Ante Milanovic-Litre on Wednesday.

All three are Canadian. Bennett and Ternowski became free agents on Tuesday.

Bennett appeared in 14 regular-season games with Hamilton last year, recording six total tackles (including five defensive tackles) and one sack. The six-foot-four, 262-pound Winnipeg native is entering his fourth season with the Ticats.

Ternowski, a native of Hamilton, played in seven regular-season games with the club in 2023, recording six receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. The six-foot, 185-pound Ternowski is also entering his fourth CFL season with the Ticats.

Milanovic-Leatre played in 16 games with Ottawa last season, rushing for 55 yards and three TDs on 17 carries, including a 10-yard reception. The Vancouver native is entering his seventh CFL season, having previously spent time in Edmonton (2022) and Calgary (2017-21).
