The Toronto Argonauts have signed All-American wide receiver Damonte Coxey to a one-year contract extension, sources said.

The six-foot-three, 200-pound target will make $160,000 next season. The East Division All-Star recently turned 27 and could have fetched more on the open market, but wanted to stay in Toronto.

The La Reserve native had 39 catches for 787 yards and five touchdowns last season — a 20.2-yard average to lead the entire CFL. In 22 CFL games with the Argos, he recorded 54 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns.

Prior to his CFL career, Coxey played four seasons at the University of Memphis (2017-20), where he caught 185 balls for 2,948 yards and 20 touchdowns in 41 games. He was a second-team all-conference selection in 2018 and 2019, becoming just the second Tiger in program history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

The Argos are scheduled to begin their 2024 season on Sunday, June 9 when they host the BC Lions at 7:00 PM ET.
