Brandon Kahn, a Calgary officer, has been accused of sexual assault

A Calgary police officer has been charged with sexual assault.

Allegedly, the offense occurred while the officer was off duty.

Alberta's police watchdog, the Alberta Suspicious Incident Response Team (ASIRT), was asked to investigate the allegations on October 13, 2020.

ASIRT says it has found “reasonable grounds to believe that an offence” has occurred.

The inquiry was then referred to the Crown to determine whether the evidence met the standard for prosecution.

The Crown found that, and ASIRT found Const. Brandon Kahn should be blamed.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 20.

“As this matter is currently pending before the courts, no further information will be released,” ASIRT said in a press release.
