Toronto police offer update on afternoon shooting that killed mother of two

Toronto police are offering an update this morning on the shooting that killed Carolina Huebner-Macurath, a 44-year-old mother of two who was hit by a stray bullet during a daytime shooting on the city's east side last summer.

Huebner-Makurath was on her way to lunch in the area of ​​Queen Street East and Carlaw Avenue on the afternoon of July 7 when three men got into an argument and gunshots rang out. He was rushed to the hospital after being shot, but died a short time later.

Investigators said they believe the incident was an “armed robbery.”

Three people have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting.

Det. Henri Marsman is expected to speak about the case at 10 a.m. at Toronto police headquarters and the press conference will be broadcast live on CTVNewsToronto.ca and the CTV News app.
