Toronto police have been charged Monday in connection with two separate carjackings in which the victims were threatened with a sharp object and a firearm.

The first incident happened in the area of ​​Mount Pleasant and Manor Roads just after 2 p.m. Police said the suspect was standing outside the victim's car when the suspect approached them, armed with a sharp object.

After that, the suspect demanded the car keys, and the victim complied with his demand. Police said the suspect got into a car.

The victim called 911, and officers found the suspect still inside the vehicle. Later he was arrested. Alexander Berube, 35, was charged with armed robbery and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, police said Tuesday.

The second incident happened in Scarborough in the area of ​​East Steeles Avenue and Markham Road at 7:30 p.m.

While the driver was sitting in his car, the suspect approached, brandished a firearm and demanded the car.

Police say the victim got out of the car and the suspect got in and drove away.

Law enforcement officers responded and tracked down the vehicle the suspect was inside. Police said he was arrested and a replica firearm was recovered.

The suspect, Devansh Rajdeep, 24, has been charged with robbery while armed with a firearm, willful disguise, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing police, failure to comply with probation and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. .
