One person in hospital after Broadway apartment fire – Winnipeg

One person was taken to the hospital after a fire at a Broadway Avenue apartment Tuesday.

Crews were called to the three-story building in the 200 block of Broadway at 5:30 p.m. and had the fire under control within 40 minutes.

One person who was hospitalized had to be helped out of the building, while the others were able to leave on their own and no other injuries were reported.

City officials say the fire was accidental due to improper disposal of smoking materials. The damage was mainly where one lux appeared.

Emergency social services team is helping residents find temporary housing.
