Non-emergency medical services disrupted as snowstorm cleanup continues in Nova Scotia – Winnipeg Free Press

Nova Scotia Health says non-emergency services in the Eastern Region will be reduced after the weekend snowstorm.

The area includes Antigonish and Guysborough counties, as well as Cape Breton, where some areas received up to 150 centimeters of snow.

The health authority says its focus today is on urgent and emergency care and is asking patients to consider rescheduling any non-urgent appointments.

The provincial government hopes that the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and Eskasoni residents will avoid unnecessary travel and that most roads will be clear by the end of the week.

The regional municipality that includes Sydney, Cape Breton's largest community, says city hall remains closed and transit services and waste collection are still delayed.
