Four Montreal businesses were hit by Molotov cocktails within two hours

Montreal firefighters tackled four fires in a two-hour period overnight.

No one was injured, but one incident at NDG around 3:35 a.m. caused significant damage to the building and required an evacuation. An incendiary was thrown from the window of a commercial premises on Monkland Avenue.

The fire spread to the second floor and prompted the evacuation.

Before that, three more fires broke out between 01:40 and 2:45. In all cases, incendiary substances were thrown through the window.

The first occurred at RDP at about 1:40 a.m. in a commercial building on Maurice-Duplessis Avenue near the intersection of 41st Avenue. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and limited the damage.

Between 2:20 a.m. and 2:45 a.m., two more fires broke out in two commercial buildings in the vicinity of avenue Marcel-Laurin and boulevard Thiemens. In both cases, the losses were small.

Four fires are being investigated by the Montreal Police Fire Squad (SPVM).

No arrests have been made and it is not yet clear if there is any connection between the fires.
