Entrance to the provincial park is free in February

Admission to Manitoba's provincial parks will be free for the month of February, according to a statement released by the Manitoba government.

“We know accessibility is of the utmost importance to many families, so I'm pleased to announce that we're removing entry fees to all provincial parks,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Tracy Schmidt said in a statement. “We encourage all Manitobans to get outdoors and enjoy all that our beautiful provincial parks have to offer.”

In February, all Manitoba provincial parks waived entry fees.

Vehicle permits are not required in provincial parks during February, but Snopasses are still required for snowmobiles using designated trails.

Annual vehicle permits for 2024-25 will be available for purchase starting March 1 at www.manitobaelicensing.ca.

Enter the 13th Annual Jack Frost Challenge

From February 11th to 17th, the Green Action Center invites residents to participate in the 13th annual Jack Frost Challenge.

Teams of one to five participants can actively get around on foot, bike, skate, ski, sled, snowshoe or otherwise to achieve a combined goal of at least 130 kilometers during the week's challenge.

“Given the unseasonably warm temperatures this winter, residents can enjoy themselves by getting out and challenging themselves with tons of great prizes from a variety of local businesses,” organizers wrote.

Learn to sing with River City Sound

River City Sound is a mixed choir that sings a cappella and four-part harmony music and is looking for new members to join the six Wednesday evenings and possibly join the group for their 2024 shows.
