CIB invests in Montreal Metropolitan Airport

The Canadian Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is investing $90 million in a new domestic passenger terminal at MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport. The terminal development project at the airport, formerly known as St. Hubert Airport, is a partnership between Macquarie Asset Management and Porter Aviation Holdings Inc.

CIB says its investment will enable the development of a new domestic airport terminal to improve mobility options for Canadians to and from the Montreal area while supporting economic opportunities in the Greater Montreal area.

The Montreal Metropolitan Airport project, located 15 kilometers from Montreal, includes the construction of a new 21,300-square-meter two-story domestic terminal with nine gates, connected taxiways and onshore facilities such as parking lots with barrier-free parking spaces, electric power charging. stations, bus pick-up and drop-off points.

Additional facilities on the surface include roads near the terminal, a road connection from the property boundary to the long-term parking lots, landscaping and an aviation fuel farm.

The terminal is expected to handle projected growth of up to four million passengers per year. Construction is planned to be completed by the fall of 2025.

Porter Airlines will serve cities across Canada using a combination of Embraer E195-E2 and Dash 8-400 aircraft at MET. The new terminal will also be open to other airlines, including Pascan Aviation's existing network of regional Quebec flights.
