A warehouse fire caused a power outage in downtown Calgary

Residents in downtown Calgary were without power for several hours overnight after a warehouse fire caused the outage.

Calgary firefighters and Enmax crews responded to a warehouse fire at the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street SW. It was quickly extinguished.

Several roads were closed during the outage, including 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, SW, 3rd through 11th. City crews restored traffic lights along several avenues for the morning commute as they wanted to minimize disruption to the morning commute.

According to a post by Enmax on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), power was restored around 1:10 a.m.

If people still experience power outages, they ask customers to check their breakers first, then report it online or by calling 403-514-6100.

Now they are determining the circumstances of the fire and extinguishing it.

They thanked customers for their patience during the outage.
