A 20-year-old man has died in a shooting on Toronto's west side, and the search is on for suspects

Police are searching for suspects after an overnight shooting that left a young man dead in Toronto's west end.

Emergency crews were called to Lansdowne Street, north of College Street, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday for reports of gunshots.

Police confirmed a 20-year-old man was found at the scene and taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he was pronounced dead.

A second man in his 20s was hospitalized shortly after the shooting with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators are determining whether the person who went to the hospital was involved in the shooting.

“We're trying to determine if the (injured) person was involved in the actual murder,” said Toronto police Det. Michael McGinn. “His role or how he was involved has yet to be determined.”

No suspect information is available and police confirmed no arrests have been made.

Neighbors in the densely populated neighborhood told CityNews they heard multiple gunshots. Police are asking residents in the area to look for items in the trash that may be related to the shooting.

A portion of Lansdowne will remain closed to traffic between College and Bloor streets.
