Airdrie Children's Festival

What: Airdrie's annual Children's Festival is in full swing again this weekend and there's plenty for kids to enjoy, and it's FREE! Various locations across the city are taking part and visitors can expect “a Children's Village playground, children's entertainment and inspiration stations to inspire children in learning activities to unlock future career opportunities”. event list.

During these warm temperatures, there is a remarkable phenomenon that takes over lakes in the Rocky Mountains. You can check out candle ice for yourself this weekend (perhaps during a great hike?)

The story of Simon and Garfunkel

What: Calling all Simon and Garfunkel fans! This spectacular concert-style dinner theater chronicles the journey of a famous musical duo.

Calgary Baby and Tot Show

What: This Baby and Tot Show features local and national exhibitors showcasing the latest in services, products, clothing and toys. It's “the ultimate parenting event, held in the spring and designed to bring together everything parents-to-be, new parents and young families need under one roof.”

When: May 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and May 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Confluence Open House

What: To celebrate The Confluence's new name, they're hosting a grand opening event that's free to the public! The center will have “drummers and dancers, Indigenous-led talks, walking tours, gardening events, children's crafts and activities, and even a petting zoo!” promises.

When: May 25 from 14:00 to 11:00 to 15:00

The world of living dinosaurs

What: Giant, life-like dinosaur puppets will take over the Jack Singer Hall stage this weekend. There will be several different dinosaurs like T-Rex and Triceratops and even lesser known but amazing dinosaurs.

Callaway Park

What: If you're looking for a place to get your adrenaline pumping this weekend, Callaway Park is open for the season so you can hop on the roller coasters or bumper cars.

Jubilations Dinner Theatre: A Journey into the 80s

What: Head to Jubilations Dinner Theater this weekend for a night of 80s fun. If you have young children, you can also watch the Jubilations Junior show Kung Fu Turtles.

Violins of Hope

What: The National Music Center has Violins of Hope, a collection of stringed instruments from before and during the Holocaust.

National rock at the National Music Center

What: Rock the Nation covers over half a century of Canadian music. According to the website, it contains “songs that have inspired, moved, comforted and challenged a nation from the 50s to today. It's a soundtrack for generations and a musical reflection of the country's evolution; a nation intent on creating its own unique identity in a rapidly changing world.” The National Music Center has extended this exhibition until August 25.

Karting

What: Get your adrenaline pumping this week by trying downhill karting on the city's 1,800m mountain track.
