Calgary Weather: Rain and cool temperatures on the way

Although we've had warm weather this week, Friday will be quite different.

Rain is on the way, but it's likely to be mostly raindrops as temperatures in Calgary will only drop to 3 or 4 degrees tonight.

Isolated showers are expected Thursday night into Friday night in Calgary, along with heavy and persistent snow in the foothills.

Snow will fall in the foothills on Highway 93 west of Calgary and south to the U.S. border, with two to five centimeters of snow in Banff and Canmore.

Precipitation is coming from a cold front with gusts of up to 50 km/h overnight. You can hear the wind blowing outside the window.

A cold front is bringing in a cooler air mass, so we'll barely get it into the double digits by Friday afternoon. But it's mostly a one-day thing, with temperatures returning to the mid-teens over the weekend.

Saturday will be a bit unsettled, bringing rain and mild thunderstorms tracking east over the Rockies. Some of this activity will be possible on Saturday, during dinner at YYC.
